Cold Sauna, Sparkling Hill Resort and Wellness Hotel

BENEFITS OF THE COLD SAUNA May 25, 2010

The use of cold temperatures for the treatment of medical conditions is nothing new. Dr. Sebasian Kneipp, for one, was incorporating the alternative therapy to treat patients back in the 1800s. And, as history tells us, the practice was around back in the days of Hippocrates.

According to a newsrelease issued by Sparkling Hill Resort, the concept of "total cold body therapy" originated in Japan in the late 1970s and in May 2008, the Olympic rehabilitation centre in Spala, Poland opened with a cold sauna which has been used as a training and injury rehabilitation centre for many professional athletes.

With the introduction of the Cold Sauna -110°C, Sparkling Hill Resort in Vernon, B.C., spa guests will get a peek at what Europeans have been experiencing for years to help medical conditions and ailments such as inflammation, arthritis and joint pain.

Kur Spa's wellness manager Tinus Pietersen says depression and fatique can also be helped with as few as 10 three-minutes treatments.
