fairmont launches ener.g

by Anne Dimon

In collaboration with spa partner Kristian Florian International, Fairmont Hotels & Resorts has launched ener.g,  a line of luxury, plant-based body products.  “This is the first time we’ve partnered with a renowned product company to build a signature line,” enthused Anne McCall Wilson,  V.P. of Spas for Fairmont and Raffle Hotels International.

I met up with McCall Wilson at the November ISPA conference in Las Vegas. She had recently returned from India where she visited Ananda – a destination in the foothills of the Himalayas that she calls “the Holy Grail of spas in India.”  She was delighted to talk about the new product line.

Manufactured by California-based spa partner Kersten Florian, the line includes just four body products – a gentle mineral body scrub, a bath and body oil, a hydrating lotion and a face and body spritz.

The scents – blends of Bergamont, Rose Geranium, Clary Sage and Roman Chamomile - are fresh, elegant  and herbal with a touch of floral. McCall tells me that Cleary Sage was chosen because it’s one of Charlene Florian’s personal favourite scents.

When creating the product line, “we wanted something that makes you feel solid, restored and filled with new energy,” she says.  “We also wanted a blend that worked equally well and was pleasing to both men and women.”

The products are available to purchase online and are used in a new, 90-minute spa treatment called PURE ener.g   – a combo of introductory foot ritual, a full body scrub, and a customized relaxation massage.

The treatment is now available in 15 of the 17 Willow Streams around the world.  The two remaining properties (in China) will introduce the treatment next February.

McCall reveals that another new line – simply called Willow Stream – will hit the shelves in Willow Stream treatment and change rooms early in the New Year, and she hints that there may be still another announcement in February.

The next big trip for McCall Wilson is Russia and the Ukraine where Fairmont will be opening a small spa in 2012.
