Travalo Winners

We have selected five readers who each win one of these miniature perfume automizers. Great for travel! Our five winners.

Best Toronto Cooking Classes

For the last few years, Best Toronto Cooking Schools has been one of our most popular pages. And now, thanks to TTW writer and Toronto resident Nicole Crozier, the list has been updated.  If you're a resident of the city or planning to visit and want to take a cooking class with a healthful spin, this is a great list to keep on hand!

You Asked - We Responded with a New Section

When you sign up to receive the Travel to Wellness newsletter or when you enter some of our contests, we ask: What's the one thing you'd like to see more of in Travel to Wellness?  One of the things you've been telling us if that you want more information on fitness adventures.   We LOVE to get feedback from readers, and we listen.  We've collected all our fitness themed stories and packaged them under the heading of Active Vacations. You'll now find this section on the main menu of every page.  Check it out  and let us know what you think.

Win one of FIVE copies of Energy Works 101

Energy Work 101 by energy healing facilitator Todd Cunningham is a book about empowering the reader.  “I know that people have the ability to heal and transform themselves,” Cunningham said. “My system helps people gain confidence and become empowered so they can make a change for the better.”  Find out how to win one of five copies.

Marvellous Mushrooms

“Mushrooms are the best kept secret in nutrition,” says Dr. Kalya Arthur, a Scottsdale –based  Naturopathic MD who specializes in nutritional therapies.  “Mushrooms are amazing and shocking the medical world by proving scientifically what our ancestors knew intuitively – they are a nutritional super food that just doesn't get enough credit!
Dr. Arthur shares this list of four mushroom types that have been extensively researched:

Shiitake
Well known, easily available, and delicious, Shiitake has a history in China as far back as the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644). In Japan 1980s, research showed it is highly effective in supporting liver function and immune system activity.

Maitake
Unique in its anti-tumoral and immune enhancing activity, the concentrated D-Fraction in Maitake shows amazing results in US and Asian research studies to induce tumor cell death (apoptosis).  In Europe researchers are even showing it able to effect the pro-apoptotic genetic component and provide new gene targeting treatment options for both breast and prostate cancers.   More about mushrooms

On our radar:

We met up with the fabulous Keri Glassman of Nutritious Life in April of 2011 aboard a Crystal Cruises wellness cruise and we were most impressed.  So when we found out she has a new book out we just had to share it with you. In Slim Calm Sexy Diet Keri offers readers an empowering lifestyle plan that allows one to take control of their forks and focus on a revolutionary new way of eating—one that is not just about losing weight, but controlling the stress that actually causes overeating. We like the concept of that.  Amazon is also offering Slim Calm Sexy Diet at a great price right now.

Words to take along on the Journey:

When my daughter, Julia, turned 23 and set out on her first trip around the world, I gave her a collection of poems packaged in a book titled Always Believe in Yourself and Your Dreams.  It's full of little inspirational poems and quotes.  Here's one that rings true for everyone, no matter what the age.  “Whatever you can do, or dream you can – begin it.  Boldness has genius, power and magic in it.”  ~ Goethe

Do you a little story and inspirational quote you'd like to share?  Send it on over!
