TIPS FOR PROTECTING YOUR SKIN THIS WINTER
Whether you’re on-the-road or at home, wellness in the winter also means looking after your skin. Celeste Hilling, skincare lifestyle expert and host of Skin Health TODAY gives Travel to Wellness readers five ways to show our skin some love this winter:
1. Regular exfoliation helps plump the skin by churning up elastin and collegen production and speeds up the cell turnover process, allowing the body to produce moisture-bearing properties. Use a resurfacing agent like glycolic acid nightly, and you’ll increase your moisture by up to 33 percent over a period of two months.
2. Masks can play an important role in calming inflammation or combating dehydration that can result from overexposure to dry winter air. Along with your daily skin care regime, try a weekly mask with eucalyptus and sulphur.
3.Use an external exfoliator, such as a shower scrub, daily followed by a moisturizer with 20 percent glycolic acid. Give winter-time problem areas such as knees, elbows, hands and feet extra attention.
4. Apply sunscreen to all exposed skin, and look for a sunscreen with full-spectrum protection and UVA-blocking elements such as titanium dioxide, zinc oxide, or anything in the avobenzone family.
5.To create a healthy glow in the gloomy winter months, use bronzing powders and tinted moisturizers. Quick, money-saving tip: add two drops of foundation to your daily moisturizing sunscreen. Mixing the two together will give you a natural dose of color, while benefitting your skin. Win one of four Go Gorgeous Kits from Skin Authority.
