There's a new Apothecary Concierge at Spa Matilda at Hotel Matilda.
The upscale spa, one of our two favourite spas in San Miguel de Allende (the other is Sense, a Rosewood Spa ) offers a modern ambiance and a full menu of services.
“The Apothecary Concierge allows us to offer guests a very customized service,” says Alondra Saldarriaga, spa director at Spa Matilda. “First there will be a complete consultation with the client. It might be a skin or hair or body care issue that is of concern,” she says, and from that point a product – for face, hair or body - will be created at the Apothecary in full sight of, and with the participation of the client.
The Apothecary will stock natural and artisanal ingredients such as sugar, honey, cocoa, coffee, rosemary, lavender, sea salt, vanilla, cinnamon, spirulina (a green seaweed for detox) and lavender and rosemary grown on property, plus a wide selection of natural oils.
It's a participatory experience as guests not only learn about the healing and beneficial properties of the ingredients but also enjoy an interactive experience of smelling the aromas and feeling the unique textures of the ingredients. We see this as another example of the customization of the spa experience. It's a movement in the industry.
