According to the Wellness Tourism Association, in today’s world, the term Wellness Retreat has two definitions:
#1 A Wellness Retreat is a guided, intention-driven, multi-day program with a set or semi-set schedule, and hosted by one or more facilitators. The program may include learning and lifestyle workshops such as meditation and healthy eating, as well as fitness activities such as yoga, nature walks and hiking.
#2 A Wellness Retreat is a smaller facility with accommodations and hospitality services, and where the primary purpose is to provide programs and experience for the Wellness Traveler. The facility may have fewer wellness activities, services and facilities than a Wellness Resort.
With this new Travel to Wellness Retreats Guide, we are embracing definition #1: “A guided, intention-driven, multi-day program with a set or semi-set schedule, and hosted by one or more facilitators.”

Health & Wellness Weeks – June 4 – 11, July 23 – 30

Women’s Travel Wisdom – Oct. 20 – 24
JourneyWoman, the original women’s solo travel publication is co-hosting Women’s Travel Wisdom on October 20-24, 2022 at the Mandala Springs Wellness Center in Northern California. The five-day event aims to foster healing, self-care and fun while empowering women to create positive change through travel. Facilitators will guide women through wellness topics ranging from mindfulness to wabi-sabi, sleep, nutrition and more. The retreat’s circle of women, which includes acclaimed National Geographic photographer Lola Akinmade Åkerström, Cambodian author and activist Loung Ung, “First They Killed My Father”, and Brenda Holder, Chair of the Indigenous Tourism Association of Canada on reconnecting to Mother Earth.
