While Miami can be home to no shortage of shameless indulgences, it’s also a hub for health and wellness. Just ask guests of the celebrated Carillon Miami Wellness Resort. Story by Erin Nicole Davis
Set on a pristine beachfront, the world-class hotel has a track record of hosting guests who leave feeling better than they did when they arrived. It’s pretty impossible not to feel like you’ve been transported to an enriching paradise from the moment you walk in the doors of the breezy property (a refreshing alternative to Miami’s flashy and exaggerated see-and-be-seen spots).
The wellness-focused resort features 150 spacious one-and two-bedroom luxury apartments and an array of recreational activities – from the cutting edge fitness facility and two-storey indoor rock wall, to stunning resort pools throughout the property.
Carillon is constantly evolving its services – from its immaculate full-service spa to its cuisine – to meet the changing times and needs of its guests. And there have been a handful of appreciated new additions to Carillon’s programming as of late – perhaps since your last visit.
Last September, Carillon partnered with premier anti-aging wellness centre, The Biostation to launch a new functional medicine practice located at the resort’s award-winning 70,000-square-foot spa and wellness facility. Here, guests are invited to take their health to new heights with access to revolutionary therapies that prevent and reverse the impacts of aging on the body.
The Biostation at Carillon is a state-of-the-art wellness center at the forefront of preventative healthcare and redefining the process of healthy aging. Its known for its cutting-edge therapies, science-based innovations, and personalized care to develop a health program that addresses the root cause of issues associated with aging such as weight gain, poor sleep, brain fog, low libido, and lack of energy. Through their approach, the Biostation is designed to restore the body to peak performance, alleviate symptoms and, ultimately, reverse the effects of aging and prevent age-related diseases.
Led by Biostation’s medical director, Dr. Martin G. Bloom, M.D., the center offers a selection of services from the Biostation. Think: sexual health therapies, HGH & Peptide therapy, and hormone replacement therapy. The Biostation retreats dig even further into the world of wellness and anti-aging, with everything from nutritional counselling and weight loss support to diagnostic blood testing, platelet rich plasma, and nutrient therapy.
“People are taking a preventative approach to their holistic health and as a wellness destination, we wanted to partner with a company that takes a forward-thinking approach to treating these concerns to offer our clients access to the latest innovations and therapies on the market,” said Tammy Pahel, Vice President of Spa & Wellness Operations at Carillon Miami Wellness Resort. “The Biostation is a leader in anti-aging and the work the team has done with their patients is remarkable.”
Another relatively new addition to Carillon is its assortment of touchless services. Six new touchless treatments are designed to treat alleviate specific health conditions, such as anxiety, stress, back and shoulder pain, lymphatic congestion, and various skin disorders. They include everything from The Wave Map or the Ballancer Pro lymphatic drainage suit, to the Dermashape body sculpting and lymphatic drainage treatment.
Additionally, Carillon recently announced a new retreat series: Integrative Emotional Wellness, a Holistic Retreat for Women. Designed in partnership with internationally renowned relationship therapist, Dr. Paul Hokemeyer, and Corey Spiegel, founder of the women’s networking organization Light House, this emotional wellness series will include several workshops throughout the summer, as well as a weekend-long retreat September 30 – October 3. Throughout the sessions, Dr. Hokemeyer and Ms. Spiegel will lead workshops that introduce the science underlying toxic relationships and emotional wellbeing and provide personalized strategies to help guests detox.
Carillon’s range of programming highlights the interconnectivity of physical, mental, and emotional wellness. Naturally, the food we put in our bodies plays a substantial role. Filled with both innovative new additions and tried and true favourites, the culinary program at the Carillon is makes it just as much of a destination spot as its spa services.
Not surprisingly, fresh local goodness is front and centre at Carillon’s indoor and outdoor dining options. The Strand offers a contemporary Mediterranean dining experience with cuisine that shines a spotlight on Florida’s community, with menu items that include things like hearty salads, pizza, and pasta (the Burrata Salad with a chicken add-on was delicious). A Wellness menu offers your choice of grilled protein, sautéed vegetables and a starch accompaniment. Like its spa services, the resort is constantly evolving its culinary program, with everything from new menu items to collaborations with noted chefs.
