TriFlexcursion Hiking, Cycling and Kayaking, Antigua

Another afternoon on this wellness tour of Antigua and Barbuda, I met up with TriFlexcursion a local tour company launched in late 2018 and offering local hiking, cycling and kayaking (hence the “tri” ).  Story by Anne Dimon

A typical “tri” tour includes a relatively easy 15-minute bike ride from Redcliffe Quay in Saint John’s to a nearby mangrove reserve where participants kayak for about 30 minutes before jumping back on their bikes to head to James National Park.

Today’s excursion, with a small group of new friends from the Antigua and Barbuda Tourism Board, takes us through the busy little village of Point. It was a wee bit scary darting through downtown traffic but the guides take safety seriously and we were out on more rural routes within about five minutes. We cycled along a paved road following the shoreline to the historic site of Fort James built between 1705 and 1739 to defend the island from the Europeans.

We stopped to explore the site before heading back.

Bikes, kayaks, bike helmets and bottled water are all provided. The company can also customize trips.  You’ll find more info here

You can also read about my visits to and with Wallings Nature Reserve, Colesome Farm to Table Experience, Sugar Ridge, Nicole’s Table Cooking Classes, Barbuda Belle and The Great House as we make our way around the twin-island country experiencing some of what is offered under the umbrella of Wellness.
