What is your favorite place to just #BE” and why? (This can be at home or away from home).
My favorite place to just be is sitting or lying bareback on my horse while she grazes. It’s the most peaceful, connected, grounded feeling in the world.
What’s one thing you do to work wellness into your everyday life?
My 30 – 60 minute morning routine is paramount to work wellness into my life every day. I get up around 5am, sit in silence for 5 minutes, make coffee, journal Morning Pages (three pages of stream-of-consciousness writing) then read a few pages of an inspirational book. I don’t check my phone the entire time! My morning routine is non-negotiable and grounds me internally before I enter the external world.
What’s your best healthy snack?
Almonds and bananas.
What’s one key health/wellness/beauty product or gadget that you could not travel without?
Reverie by Jihi; a CBD-infused sleep supplement that helps me get a great night’s sleep no matter what time zone I’m traveling in.
What do you do to keep your sense of balance while traveling?
Journaling. I take my journal with me on every trip. Writing is a great way to “brain dump,” clear my head, and capture new insights, perspectives and memories while traveling.
What geographic destination in the world is at the top of your travel “bucket list” and why?
Visiting Iceland and riding Icelandic horses next to waterfalls, hot springs and lava fields. I’m fascinated by the spirit and strength of the small Icelandic horses and enthralled with the natural beauty of Iceland.
What hotel/resort/retreat from your past travels would you recommend to wellness-seekers, and why?
I would recommend Four Seasons Resort Sensei Lanai in Hawaii. The resort is surrounded by lush botanical gardens and offers customized wellbeing experiences and outdoor adventures. The thermal body mapping and massage in a hale with a private waterfall is the most incredible spa treatment I’ve ever experienced. Steps from the resort are beautiful horses and stables and you can ride through misted valleys and see wild Mouflon sheep. Sensei Lanai is a wellness-seeker’s paradise and I’m excited to offer the Unbridled Hawaii Retreat there in 2022!
Pay it forward: Who is one person in your industry that inspires you?
A person who inspires me is legendary horse whisperer, Monty Roberts. He is a wise, gentle soul and a pioneer in teaching people to create trust-based relationships in horse-human and human-human relationships.
